RAD Ballet Courses are instructed by Poise Ballet’s School. Terry Wong-McDonnell, a RAD Certified Classical Ballet instructor. Terry is proud to offer the first RAD program in the Northern Bay Area in partnership with Sausalito’s Parks and Recreation Department. Terry has been dancing Ballet, Flamenco, Tap and Jazz for more than 15 years. With nine years of training, she was awarded Gold Medal for Adult popular Tap by the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD), London. Terry is a British national who, for the past 10 years has been a resident of the Philippines--where she continued her training in dance, gaining RAD qualifications as both a professional-level dancer and professional instructor.

The Royal Academy of Dance was founded in the United Kingdom in 1920 and is an international organization to advance the standards of teaching in classical ballet. Today, RAD is the largest, most influential teacher training and examining body for classical ballet in the world. The RAD Syllabus is taught in over 80 countries in the world, setting high standards of dance training for over 250,000 students each year.

Based on a carefully structured Syllabus that is both fun and safe, RAD uses a progressive learning approach appropriate for young children’s age and ability. The primary course objective is to build a strong and solid foundation of classical ballet technique while also exploring and incorporating other dance genre, ‘free movement’ and ‘character dance’ to enrich student’s knowledge and experience.
